Our Expertise

CAS editorial scientists build the highest quality and most up-to-date chemical databases in the world.

We review and intellectually index more than 10,000 major scientific journals and patents from 57 patent authorities, providing pointers to the new and novel science disclosed in them.

Our information products, such as SciFinder and STN, are powerful and convenient ways to access CAS' database content.

  • CAplusSM includes 30 million records from the late 1800s to the present
  • CAS RegistrySM, with more than 41 million small molecules (view latest numbers), is recognized as the most authoritative collection of disclosed chemical substance information, including chemical structures, names, predicted and experimental properties, tags, and spectra
  • CASREACT, our chemical reaction database, includes over 16 million reactions

We also have expert staff researchers to help you locate the information you need.
